Get Involved in an Extracurricular Activity

Students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities. To learn more about a club or activity, select the name in the drop-down below.

Student-led clubs are initiated, created, and led by students at each individual school campus where the club is active. A student who wishes to organize a non-school sponsored, student-led club must obtain prior written consent from the school principal. These clubs are not governed by school officials, but a club monitor is present at the time of student-led club meetings held on school campuses. Parents or legal guardians must complete and sign the appropriate permission form to participate in a student-led club before their child may participate. A separate permission slip must be completed for every club or organization that each student participates in.

Model UN

for students to learn about real world operation of the United Nations by participating in a reenactment of the organization's activities. Students form delegations and represent member countries' interest in the General Assembly by drafting and debating resolutions. Other students represent their countries on the Security Council or Secretariat, to participate in a model International Court of Justice, or to serve in the Department of Public Information.

Speech and Debate Club

The NHS Speech and Debate Team competes regionally in speech and debate competitions. The team meets Wednesdays and Fridays during Flex Time in Ms. Farrell's room with after school practices as needed. District competition occurs in late March and, if a student qualifies, the state tournament is in April.

Fee: There is a $160 plus processing fee to cover membership fees, competition fees, and the purchase of resources.

Student Council

Provide a democratic form in which students can address those school-related issues that affect their lives. Maintain a continuous communication channel from students to faculty members and administrators as well as among the students within the school. Offer a yearlong program of social functions and community involvement projects for students Provide leadership training for students in the duties and responsibilities of good citizenship, using the school environment as the primary training ground.

Tri-M Music Honor Society

A Tri-M Music Honor Society chapter opens up a world of opportunities for students who have already shown themselves to be academically capable and musically gifted. Through performance and community service, they’ll develop confidence, creativity, critical thinking, compassion, and a host of other leadership skills sure to serve them well in school and beyond.

Youth in Government

Youth in Government is an annual conference designed to offer high school students a hands-on experience with state government. Students from across the state converge on the State Capitol, taking the places of our real government officials. Program participants can serve as senators or representatives, as justices and lawyers, as department commissioners and lobbyists, or even as press corps members.

To create a safe and comfortable environment for everyone, especially women. Our main three objectives (the three E’s) are empower, educate, and express. -Empowering young women to reach their full potential while being confident and content. -Educating the school and members in our club about women's rights, -Expressing our voice to promote equality and justice for all while talking about subjects that are very underrepresented yet critical for students within the school modern day issues (especially for young girls), and reflect on leaders and organizations helping our community.
